Take 2! - CFB Week 1 Preview 2025 Edition

Hello football fans! It's that time of year again and there's no better way to celebrate than by taking another try at keeping this blog updated. I'm so excited for this season. Georgia has an exciting regular season schedule that I think they can handle, Tua is looking and sounding like he has something to prove after getting paid, and even Georgia Tech fans are feeling cocky after a big week 1 against FSU in Ireland. I have to admit that I feel bad for not re-starting the blog 1 week earlier to share my game tips, I'm a believer in Tech being a fringe top 25 team this year so I bet a unit on GT +10.5 and sprinkled a half unit on their moneyline at +340 before last week's game which has made me ready to abandon all discipline and bet every dollar in my account this weekend. Here are the games I'm watching and betting on this weekend. North Dakota St @ Colorado : There are 4 top 25 teams playing Thursday night, but this game between unranked Colorado and FCS opp...

The weekend is over and we're just a couple of Monday night games from being through another weekend of football as well. It was a weekend of parity for college football with Georgia needing a comeback to beat South Carolina, USF hanging with Alabama into the second half, Michigan and Texas both having closer games than expected, and even Colorado State taking Colorado into overtime after a week of bulljunk. It's still early in the season but to this point there isn't a team in the country that looks unbeatable. On the NFL side, we're two weeks in and still trying to sort out if our preseason predictions are coming true and figuring out which week 1 overreactions might actually have some truth to them. We've got 16 weeks left in the season but it's never too early to bring out the Playoff Hunt graphic to see what seed your team would be if the season ended today.  It's also never too early to buy the Dick's Sporting Goods Adult Referee Shirt for $19.99 (...

Weekend Preview - CFB Week 3 & NFL Week 2

In Memoriam. "We've got one more game until we're all done with Week 1 and those two contenders are facing off tonight, I'm hoping for a big game and an even bigger let down from Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers if I'm lucky. Have a great week everyone!"  The last two sentences from my weekend recap on Monday. I was hoping for a let down performance but even I wasn't ready for the catastrophe that was ahead of the New York Jets that night. The good news for that team is their defense still looks strong and found a way to carry Zach Wilson to a win, the bad news is they'll have to find a way to do that every week if Nathaniel Hackett isn't able to fix Zach Wilson. Nathaniel Hackett. Zack Wilson. I hope you enjoyed that win this week jets fans... Let's look into what's in store this week! CFB Week 3 That is certainly something to say about the opposing coach when you're getting ready to play an in-state rival whose entire philosophy is about ...

Weekend Recap - CFB Week 2 & NFL Week 1

Good afternoon sports fans! Wow. Every year I talk about how I can't wait for football season to start and every year the first full weekend back doesn't disappoint. Don't get me wrong, I love college football and Week 0 matchups are a great appetizer but really nothing compares to having a full slate of college on Saturday followed by NFL Sunday. It truly is the greatest reason to never leave your house for a weekend. I haven't been in school in years and that Sunday Night Football music STILL immediately triggers a "oh shit is my homework done?" thought in my brain before I remember that I'm an adult and now have to worry about things way more difficult than an algebra worksheet. Let's jump into what happened this weekend. CFB Week 2 You know I'm looking over the scoreboard now and it seems like it was a pretty uneventful week on the college side. Georgia came out flat again on offense but figured it out, Tennessee struggled against Austin Peay b...

Today's word of the day is "schadenfreude". The Billy Napier era in Gainesville was off to a rough start after the team gave up a 70 yard touchdown on the first play of the season and never could bounce back as they struggled with sloppy play. The joy of watching Florida fans get mad about a week 1 out of conference loss with a new coach is worth hearing Big 12 fans think they're superior to the SEC for the same reason. Speaking of Big 12 football, UCF covered their spread easily last night with a 56-6 win over Kent State. While the top of the Big 12 might never be able to compete with the top of the SEC, it does seem that they may be gaining some traction when it comes to in-state recruiting in Florida and I'm looking forward to seeing if that program can take advantage of a down time at UF.  We've got a FULL slate of college football this weekend with an extra side of a Braves-Dodgers series to get us ready for October, let's have a great weekend. -Joe

Weekend Preview - CFB Week 1

Good afternoon and welcome to the first post on this blog. I'm hoping for this to become an active blog for me to archive and talk about the sports I watch and gamble on and also host any open letters I may need to write in the future. We're quickly approaching the first week that matters in college football and no I'm not only saying that because my bets went 0-5 for week 0. I'm really looking forward to this year in college football with it being the last year with the PAC-12 and possibly ACC as we know it. While many are mad at this, I personally feel like I've seen this coming for years as the SEC continued to dominate other conferences in terms of National Championships and output of quality NFL players and made (some) other conferences irrelevant. College football has long been a game dominated by eras of coaches and teams and I don't see that changing with this conference realignment. As a UGA fan and alum I found last year boring at times and lost intere...
